Mark travels once again to the ‘Emerald City’ to teach a ukulele workshop, surrounded by the beautiful hammer dulcimers and folk harps (and cool guitars and ukes!) of the Dusty Strings music shop. Learn a variety of useful fingerpicking patterns and a helpful way of memorizing chords, along with Mark’s uke arrangements of “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” and Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy”! Mark Teaches Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar in Seattle
Mark continues his day at Dusty Strings with a Hawaiian Slack Key guitar workshop. (Mark’s book on the subject is still in print after 15 years!) He will cover Open-G and C Mauna Loa tunings, and teach you Keo la Beamer’s “E Ku’u Morning Dew” and his own “Spouting Horn.” All fingerpickers welcome. Mark Teaches More Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar in Palo Alto
Take your Hawaiian slack key playing to the next level! In May, Mark provided Gryphonites with an introduction to slack-key fingerpicking using “Taro Patch” (Open-G) and "C-Wahine" tunings. In this workshop, Mark will review - then augment - your understanding of Taro Patch using new chords and exercises, plus delve into Mauna Loa (added 6th) tuning. Mark will show you how to play Keo la Beamer’s beautiful “E Ku’u Morning Dew” and his own “Lihue Luau." There will be plenty of hands-on playing in this workshop!
