Greta Pedersen Honored by Young Audiences

Greta Pedersen, wife and partner of Mark Hanson, recently won the prestigious national Artist of the Year award from Young Audiences for her work in childhood education. The award ceremony occurred April 24 at YA’s national conference in New Orleans. Greta’s award was presented in the Cabildo Musuem in the French Quarter, where the Louisiana Purchase was signed in 1803.

New Strobe Tuner and Capo

Mark is using a Dual-Action capo from Planet Waves for his new Goodall Concert Jumbo guitar, and has also started using the Tru-Strobe tuner.

Mark Hanson’s Two New CDs Released!

Mark has been working on these solo fingerstyle CDs for the last year and a half, and they show it! Hallmarked by Mark’s great, thoughtful arrangements and artful playing, one CD features jazz standards and the other popular love songs.

The Great American Songbook for Guitar includes Mark’s fabulous solo fingerstyle guitar arrangements of American jazz standards from the great Tin Pan Alley songsmiths. Classic tunes like “In the Mood”, “Angel Eyes”, “Brother, Can You Spare A Dime”, and “Zing! Went the Strings of My Heart” highlight this CD of 13 tunes.

Love Songs for Guitar includes twelve of Mark’s unique solo fingerstyle guitar arrangements of great pop standards. Classic tunes like “The Best of My Love” (Eagles), “Something” (Beatles), “Isn't She Lovely”(Stevie Wonder), and “Wonderful World” (Sam Cooke) highlight this CD of a dozen beautiful tunes.

2009 Accent on Music Guitar Seminar

Accent On Music will conduct one weeklong guitar seminar session in 2009, the week of July 20-26. It will be held on the campus of Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. Two high-level professional instructors will join Mark Hanson for the Seminar. Scottish guitar wizard Tony McManus is one, and Pat Kirtley, the master of all styles, is the other.

Because enrollment is limited to 40 students, we urge you to register as early as possible.
